How to show up on your worst days (a clown taught me this)

In my early clown training, I learned a principle: do it as you are.

Don’t fake energy you don’t have. Don’t perform a version of yourself that isn’t real right now.

If you’re tired… be a tired clown. Or an angry clown. Or an “I can’t be bothered with this” clown.

In this video I walk you through what you might call a “progressive embodiment exercise”… but I just call it being silly in a useful way — moving from your ankles all the way up through your body and into your voice. It helps you fully inhabit how you’re actually feeling so you can release it and shift.

I have been known to use this before networking events, between performances, and honestly just whenever I’m fighting myself instead of working with myself.

The idea underneath it is really “the secret to all personal development.” In order to change how you are, you kind of have to accept how you are first.
